Guns

This is the first rant of what I'm sure to be many.  I'm neither a Republican nor a Democrat.  I believe in getting strait to the point.  I want to know what people think, and I want to understand what makes them think that.  I'm not a politician, and I'm not a PhD.  I'm a concerned citizen.  I'm somebody who has read enough to realize that the government works for me, not the other way around.  I pay enough attention to realize that neither side of the aisle has all of the answers, and neither side is willing to admit it.  I'm an Independent because I'm capable of making up my own mind, and my parents helped me to understand the difference between right and wrong.  That's not to say that I've never done wrong, I've just done those things with full knowledge that they were wrong.

That's the end of my background.  Any other things you might want to know feel free to ask.

My first topic is the current argument concerning gun control.  Please explain to me how creating new laws limiting the amount of rounds a gun can hold is going to reduce gun violence!  Also banning certain guns is assanine when the basis for the ban is strictly cosmetic.  This seems idiotic to me for a few reasons:
1.  It takes seconds to change a clip in a gun.
2.  Criminals are criminals because they don't care about the laws.
3.  The laws don't make sense.  My 9mm would be illegal, but a .50 cal single shot rifle is fine.
4.  Most of these "assault rifles" are only concidered that due to appearance.  The way a gun looks has no impact on it's lethality.
5.  A gun isn't capable of doing anything on it's own.  It takes a person to make it a weapon.

These represent my views.  I won't look down on you for yours, so please show me the same respect.  I look forward to any comments, and a good healthy discussion with anybody who cares to discuss this.

  1. The limiting of rounds and styling isn't an aim at gun safety, it is an aim at chipping away at the second amendment. The government has the time to wait us out, look how far they have gone in two hundred years. We now have to use our freedoms as a bartering chip, okay you can have that but please don't take this; when in reality they have no right to take any of it.

  2. I understand the definition of the word. You just didn't supply anything to support your claim or defend your position. Once again showing your lack of ability. Very common.
